Let's go take photos in the rain

Let's go take photos in the rain by simplastic featuring platform wedge heels
(Some of) What we did today- drove up a mountain to take photos in the rain of the sea-view among the blooming wattle and banksia flowers, followed by a late takeout dinner on a picnic table by the beach.
Life is what you make of it.

Earrings- from sketch to actuality.

My little machine and I make things.
I'm currently too busy (and broke) being a mum to study fashion, so I do my own studies and projects because it is a joy to explore my passion.

I'm currently reading Fashion Illustration School

It's nice to find a book that's not aimed at absolute beginners to drawing, but can show you simply how to improve where needed (can you say "Drawing Hands!">?).

I love this book, it's made my product idea sketches so much easier to envision.

Here's a quick set I drew up.
I love the earrings, they're something new and different.

Here's one of my prototypes.
I'm yet to purchase the proper fastenings (a chain and earring prong), but it's definitely a marketable concept and there's a light blue pair I'm in love with which can sit on my hoops for now.

The idea is to utilise fabric scraps (most of my projects recycle these) and save them from landfill.
Fashion earrings can have such a range with the introduction of displaying a fabric, which means trending end-of-roll fabric can be used.

Interfacing is needed for lighter fabrics and weight can be added to sheers with semi-precious stone rubble.
I also have many ideas for resin (lucite), oh what could be immortalised.

I like to dream- these would be great to make en-mass, I hope to one day design for a large company interested in sustainability and using vegan materials.
I'm going to make a few of these and see if the cafe' I sell my bags in are interested in displaying them for sale.

And they make great coffee so it's a good excuse to pop in ;)

What do you think?

Redheads see things differently- colour mixing

Redheads see things differently

Redheads see things differently by simplastic featuring a chain necklace
The idea behind 'Redheads see things differently' is focused on colour.
Being a redhead, without a neutral colour on top, there is another tone to work into the colour scheme of any outfit/makeup.
Another factor is the signature pallid complexion and often cute freckles, making a unique canvas for colours to fit into.

As a general rule, more natural, autumn colours befit a gorgeous ginger.
Think Olive green, Peach, Dusky pink, Teal, Mustard (sparingly), Tinted greys, Lilac, Fawn, Gold yellow and Deep chocolate.
As a rough rule, if the colour exists in nature, it's a go.

Use with CAUTION:
ANY neons (hold item up against your face to check colour compatibility before purchasing and try to stick to small accessories if you must have it), Cool reds, Bright purples, Navy (the darker, the better), yellow-gold jewellery (if fair) and Barbie pink.

That being said, the rules were made to be broken (or at least bent).

I have a theory that perhaps the outfit choice of a redhead, presented without a reference to hair colour is not very well translated to a brunette, blonde or raven-haired fashionista.
As similar as we are, we are all wonderfully unique and can use what we wear to best compliment our features.

And such a theory surely settles this ginger's constant question often posed perusing a fashion-mag spread, "How do I make THAT work? I don't get it..". Perhaps they just don't get us.

The loungeroom- a few ideas for a rental

The loungeroom- a few ideas

The loungeroom- a few ideas by simplastic on Polyvore
Just tinkering with a few lounge room ideas.

It's annoying living in a rental, but here's a few tricks I like to use:

1. Cover up wall-creeping telephone wires with a wall hanging or loose fabric.
2. If you can't change that horrid carpet colour, splurge on a good rug that's easy to clean or consider carpet tiles.
3. Make a boring old cupboard interesting with some accent handles or stencil it to match your colour scheme.
4. Kids= lots of stuff, make use of pretty baskets in natural weaves or try fabric baskets.
5. Don't want to show off your dvd collection? Hide the inside of glass cabinets by tacking pretty fabric or paper to the back of the doors.
6. Not thrilled with those gaudy kids chairs? Sew washable covers for them or just drape and wrap them in fabric.
7. Bring your colour scheme together with small touches of bold colours such as these throw pillows.
8. Keep calm and pay your rent ;)

Have a lovely day!

Traditionally, the German princess blouse in worn beneath a corset-style dress to cover the bust.
Wearing it over a sheer shirt is a very large break from such expectations and teaming it with a fitted skirt brings a modern sense to the style, with denim and a soft pastel tone.
